Nearby Attractions

The main attraction to our cottage would be the tranquillity of the rural country side. We have two challenging hiking trails (eNgoje trails), and the dirt roads in the neighbouring plantations and along the edges of the escarpment are ideal for mountain bikes (please bring your own bikes). A visit to one of the zulu kraals in the valley near the river can be arranged on request.
The area is also much loved by motor bike and off-road enthusiasts.
Indigenous forests in the gorges on the farm are home to birds and wild life. Vervet monkeys, jackal, bush pig and several small buck species amongst other animals have been spotted on Glen Erskine. The cliffs are home to dassies and birds of prey.
Other nearby attractions would include the following:

eNgoje Trails

These scenic hiking trails are situated on the Glen Erskine farm near Hermannsburg. On a plateau overlooking the hills of the Zulu Kingdom, we boast spectacular yet peaceful views of the rural countryside, with hills and vales that beg exploring. The Hermannsburg / Kranskop area is extremely picturesque with valleys, mountains, rivers and dramatic krantzes. Beautifully preserved meadows abound in wild flowers and a great variety of birds.

There are currently two trails; one that meanders beneath the cliff and through a section of indigenous forest to the water spring. The second one goes to the river and back up. Take a picnic snack!

They are 1 Hour and 2.5 hours respectively.
